Leona LaurenLeona Louise Lewis (born on the 3rd April, 1985) is a British musician, singer also known as actress, and activist. She was raised in London Borough of Islington and took classes at the Croydon's BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis gained the attention of the nation when she was crowned the third season of The X Factor in the year 2006. Also, she was awarded an PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. The winning single and was a cover Kelly Clarkson's track "A Moment like This" was downloaded 50,000 times within 30 minutes. It also hit the top position for the duration of four weeks. Clive Davis's label, J Records, signed Lewis to a 5-album deal within the United States. Lewis kept her momentum going by releasing Spirit Her first studio album. It was 10x platinum certified in the UK. This album became one of the top four albums sold in 2000s, and also among the most-sold UK albums. In the words of the Official Charts Company, Spirit is the most-sold debut album released by female artists at the turn of the century. The first single, "Bleeding Love", had a run of seven weeks at the top of the charts at one in the UK and was also the top-selling single of the year. It was also the most-sold single in 2008 as well. Lewis earned her Billboard Award for the Most Popular New Artist. In 2009 she released her sophomore studio album, Echo and also composed the theme song, "I See You" from the movie Avatar. Lewis also released "Collide," a joint project along with Swedish DJ Avicii. The year 2011 saw her also dropped Hurt The Extended Play that was the first single from her album. Glassheart (2012) was the third studio album. Lewis drew inspiration from electronic and dubstep music. The Glassheart Tour was in the middle of 2013 when she began recording music to make her first Christmas album. Christmas, with Love came out later that year and its lead single, "One More Sleep", peaked at number three on the charts in the UK. This chart entry was what made Lewis the first British solo female artist to make it to the top five, with eight singles. The singer also surpasses Olivia Newton John's record of seven.
